Seasonal Classes

The Seasonal Classes are specifically designed for early-stage dancers looking for a beginner level class. This program invites participants to engage in condensed sessions as a way to experiment, explore or jump-start their involvement in the park dance program. All classes concluded with a Family Observation Day.

Discover Dance with Me 

Age

Walking - 3 yrs + Guardian Participation

Description

Explore the joy of movement with your child and discover the many benefits of early childhood dance classes. We will dance, sing, and play in both one-on-one activities and group activities. Through circle activities, open exploration, and gross motor development exercises, children will blossom with class as they grow with their caregiver during this precious time together. 

Dress Code

Girls, boys and guardians: Comfortable clothing, ballet shoes or bare feet

Discover Dance Tots

Age

2 - 3 yrs

Description

Watch your child’s independence and confidence soar, as our dancers explore and discover the benefits of a more structured dance class. Following directions, waiting for our turn, and collectively problem-solving will encourage emotional and social development. Live singing, musical play, and sensory props will have these little ones moving and grooving with their friends and eager to return to class each week!

**2 yr olds are Strongly Encouraged to have previous experience in DiscoverDance with Me prior to joining DDT

Discover Dance A & B

Age

3 - 6yrs

Description

Discover the magic of imaginative play with live singing, structured explorations, and skill development. Our Discover Dance classes offer an outlet for creative expression, physical growth, and social interaction. Children will explore the essence of movement that will lead to the discovery of multiple styles of dance.

Park Studio Classes

The Park Studio program track is a studio program designed around the Park District community culture. This track is for dancers of all ages and experience levels who are looking for a full season commitment with a final recital. Within this program, participants can engage in core studio-level dance classes as well as hybrid, combination classes. All Park Studio classes will participate in the Spring Recital. Costume Fees not included.  In the event of inclement weather or Covid-19 shut downs, classes will be held virtual on Zoom.

Ballet/Tap Combo

Description

Ballet/Tap Combo is the most popular combo for dancers. Classes include stretches, barre work, class etiquette, basic technique of each style, games and learning choreography in both ballet and tap.

Hip Hop/Jazz Combo

Description

Jazz music and dance evolved over the years into the popular style of Hip Hop! Dancers will learn basic jazz and hip hop technique along with popping, locking, and many other cool tricks and moves to energetic pop music.

Ballet

Ballet is one of the most popular styles of dance classes for beginning dancers. Classes include stretches, barre work, class etiquette, basic ballet technique, games and learning choreography.

Musical Theatre

Description

Love musical theatre? Then this class is for you! Learn jazz technique and skills specifically used in theatre dance. Plus, learn a piece of choreography from a popular musical. No previous dance or theatre experience needed. All levels welcome.

MPD Company

Age

7-16 yrs

Description

The Performing Company provides dedicated dancers the opportunity to study Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Lyrical and Jazz more in depth. This performing group is a year-round commitment. Our focus will be creating, leading, and guiding dancers on a disciplined and rewarding path that will instill the fundamentals of dance. Company members are required to take 1 technique class the entire season (Sept 2021-May 2022) in addition to company rehearsal. Rehearsal & Performance Schedule will be available at the first class. Some rehearsals and performances will be during times outside of regularly scheduled rehearsal time. No audition necessary. All experience levels welcome.

Boys: Comfortable, form fitted clothing and color matching jazz shoes

Dance Parties

Fun Friday & Super Saturday Dance Parties are a condensed 1 day session of dance technique, movement games, crafts, a mini-performance and much more! Participants of all levels are encouraged to get involved through these camp-style classes that are designed to help participants fill their evening with fun, educational, and movement oriented programming.  Wear comfortable form-fitted clothing and dance shoes or bare feet. Feel free to dress to match the theme too! Please bring a water bottle.

Snowflake Spectacular! (4-7 yrs)

Ballet dance technique, movement games, and choreography to your favorite Frozen theme. 

 

Cinderella Remix (8-12 yrs)

Jazz & Hip Hop dance technique, movement games, and choreography to music from the new Cinderella movie.

Spring Fling (4-7 yrs)

Jazz dance technique, movement games, and choreography to your favorite spring themes!

 

High School Musical Mania (8-12 yrs)

Musical Theatre dance technique, movement games, and choreography to the musical High School Musical. 

Dance Pawty (4-7 yrs)

Jazz dance technique, movement games, and choreography with your pet! Please bring your favorite stuffed animal pet to the Pawty!

Annie: A Musical Experience (8-12 yrs)

Musical Theatre dance technique, movement games, and choreography to the musical Annie. 

Virtual Classes

Live Virtual Classes

The live virtual classes invite participants to engage with in person class from the comfort of their own homes.  All participants will receive a private Zoom invitation to their class and will participate in the comfort of their home at a specific time with their dance teacher and an in person class.  Dancers will be able to interact with other dancers and dance teachers live.  Virtual dancers can join any seasonal or park studio dance class virtually.  Virtual dancers will not participate in Spring Recital but will learn technique and choreography with Park Studio classes.  Virtual dancers can also request private virtual dance lessons with an IAC dance educator.
